The short version. We collect what we need to quote, sell and ship your parts and to run your account. We do not sell your personal information. Online card payments go to Stripe, so Acme never sees or stores your full card number. We use Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity once it is turned on, to see how people use the site. Questions? Call 631.581.9199 or email [email protected].
Who we are
This website is run by Acme Radiator Inc., 49 Carleton Avenue, Islip Terrace, NY 11752, a family owned business since 1950. Our Classic Radiator department is part of the same business. In this policy, "Acme", "we" and "us" mean Acme Radiator Inc.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, company, email address, phone number, and billing and shipping addresses.
- Quote requests and orders: your vehicle, part numbers, quantities, and any message or notes you include.
- Order history and returns: what you ordered, order status, and the reason you give for a return request.
- Messages: anything you send us through the contact form, by email or by phone.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: our server records your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and to fix problems.
- Cookies and analytics: see the sections below.
Information from other companies
- Google sign in: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google confirms your identity and email address to us so we can link your account. We never receive your Google password.
- Stripe: if you pay by card online, Stripe handles your card and tells us whether the payment went through. Your full card number goes to Stripe, never to Acme.
How we use your information
- To answer quote requests, confirm fit, price and freight, and send you an invoice or payment link.
- To process, ship and support your orders, returns and warranty questions.
- To run your account, including account pricing for approved trade accounts.
- To send you emails about your quotes, orders, returns and account.
- To keep our website and systems secure and to prevent fraud.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To keep the business, tax and accounting records the law requires.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that help us run the business, and only what each one needs to do its job.
| Company | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Delivers and protects the website | Your IP address and the pages you request |
| Stripe | Processes online card payments | The payment details you enter at checkout |
| Resend | Sends our quote and order emails | Your email address and the email content |
| Google Analytics | Measures visits to the site | Pages visited, device and browser details, approximate location |
| Microsoft Clarity (once enabled) | Session recordings and heatmaps | Clicks, scrolling and mouse movement on the site |
| Shipping carriers | Deliver your order | Your name, shipping address and phone number |
| Google (only if you use Google sign in) | Lets you sign in with your Google account | Your sign in request |
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our customers, our business or others from fraud or harm, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to other companies for their own marketing.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser keeps for a website. We use only a few, and most are needed for the site to work.
| What the cookie does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|
| Keeps you signed in to your account | Up to 1 day |
| Remembers your cart, including a guest cart before you sign in | Up to 7 days |
| Remembers your quote list | Up to 7 days |
| Protects Google sign in by checking the request really came from you | 10 minutes |
| Analytics from Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity once enabled | Set by those services |
Our sign in, cart and quote list cookies are encrypted and cannot be read by scripts on the page. Cloudflare may also set its own cookie to tell real visitors apart from bots.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the required cookies, sign in, the cart and the quote list will not work.
Analytics and session recordings
Google Analytics measures visits to our public pages. We do not send analytics from account, cart, checkout or staff pages. You can opt out of Google Analytics on any website with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Microsoft Clarity, once we turn it on, records how visitors move through the site, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and builds heatmaps. We use it to find pages that are confusing or broken. Microsoft handles this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Emails
We send emails about your quotes, orders, returns and account. These are part of doing business with you, and you will receive them while you have open orders or an account with us.
If we send marketing emails, each one will include our mailing address and a way to unsubscribe. We will honor an unsubscribe request within 10 business days.
How we protect your information
New York's SHIELD Act requires businesses to use reasonable safeguards for personal information. We protect yours by:
- Using encrypted HTTPS connections for the whole site.
- Encrypting the cookies that hold your sign in, cart and quote list.
- Limiting access to customer records to Acme staff who need it.
- Letting Stripe handle card numbers, so Acme never stores them.
No website or computer system is perfectly secure. If a security breach affects your private information, we will notify you and the authorities as New York law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep account and order records while your account is open and for as long as we need them for warranty questions, returns, and tax and accounting records. Quote requests and messages are kept as long as they are useful for answering you and for our business records. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
Your choices
- Update your details: you can change your account details and saved addresses from your account at any time.
- Ask for a copy, a correction or deletion: call or email us and we will help. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep records the law requires us to keep, such as invoices.
- Analytics: use your browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on, as described above.
Depending on where you live, your state's law may give you additional privacy rights. Contact us and we will honor the requests the law gives you.
Children
This website is for adults buying parts and services. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also point it out on the site.
